Program
Confidence Development
Our approach at Gateway Urdu is driven by instilling and increasing our student's confidence in using the Urdu language as close as possible to a native speaker. Through our programming, we aim to inspire our students to use their Urdu skills inside and outside the classroom, gradually building their confidence with the language. Our Content Development Team is continuously innovating programs so students are inspired to use their Urdu skills in relevant ways.
Proudly Serving...
Our teachers know that our students, young and old, all come from differing backgrounds with varying interests so they work to shape class activities to the make-up of each class. We pride ourselves on developing a blended curriculum focused on the needs of our heritage students, making our programming relevant and practically applicable. At Gateway Urdu, we strongly believe in relying on authenticated content for regular instruction.
Even Our Teachers Attend School!
Gateway Urdu Teachers know they have to keep up! Every teacher on our team has gone through extensive training on the curriculum, technology and methodology. This is in addition to the already substantial teaching experience they bring to the classroom!
Simplicity & Convenience
The world around us is already complex! At Gateway Urdu we believe in simple pricing and no hidden or extra fees. Our simple pricing is a mark of our transparency. Conversational Track
- Our conversational track is focused on your child’s listening, comprehending, and speaking skills. Through our carefully crafted curriculum taught through our proprietary Gateway Urdu Method your child will excel in developing all three aspects of the conversational track.
- Vocabulary and Grammar form the fundamentals of learning conversational Urdu. Our curriculum is designed so that your child begins to learn and practice vocabulary words along with grammar rules in bite-sized exercises! Through repetition, in-class reviews and assessments, and homework activities, your child’s instructor takes on a leading and ownership role in the learning process.
- Content learning is then overlayed with an array of in-class interactive activities including show-n-tell, short poems, and storytelling led by the children!
- In almost each class your child will be challenged to think critically and have ample opportunities to practice listening and speaking Urdu.
Reading/Writing Track
- Our reading/writing track is focused on developing your child’s Urdu skills to the next level. Starting with the basics of the Urdu alphabet covering phonetics and basic, half, and heavy alphabets, the learning progresses on to include the rules around writing method and joining alphabets.
- Reading and writing exercises start with two-letter words, followed by three and four-letter words, and then on to five+ letter words including some complex words. During each class, your child’s instructor will be focusing on your child’s actual reading and writing processes to identify areas for further instruction.
- With the foundations covered, your child is now ready to delve into the world of Urdu reading and writing! Our elementary reading texts are designed to build your child’s confidence and allow our instructors to highlight common wordpatterns and visualize previously learned grammar rules.
- Progressing from elementary texts, your child’s instructor will consider your child’s interest areas to tailor the learning experience. At Gateway Urdu, we have a vast and continually growing library of reading texts covering subject areas such as children’s stories, social studies, sports, poetry etc.
The Gateway Urdu Method
The Gateway Urdu Method is our proprietary teaching method carefully crafted over the years to ensure your child’s success whether in conversational or reading/writing Urdu. At its core, the methodology is governed by being student centric and focused on continuous assessments to ensure mastery of a concept before proceeding to the next topic within the curriculum. Whether your child is just starting to learn Urdu or has some familiarity, our assessment helps guide their tailored learning path. Our instructors then teach your child to understand the Urdu language concepts in our curriculum and bring the concepts to life by connecting them to your child’s and family’s unique culture and experiences.
